Liverpool - its history, art & culture

Liverpool has a fabulous history of great art, music and culture. This Theme Week was originally designed to help explain for children in the northwest the place of Liverpool as European Capital of Culture 2008. It still offers, though, the opportunity to delve into the history and culture of one of the UK's major cities and makes for an interesting topic ... whether you are a "Scouser" or not!

The "Liverpool - its history, art & culture" scheme of work and reources cover the curriculum areas of Music, History and Art tying in with the Life Skills "Working with others" and " Communication Skills". The pack contains:

• original photos of famous landmarks in Liverpool by Patricia Rice
• further images and captions summarising the impact of Liverpool's success in achieving Capital of Culture status
• captions outlining the major events in Liverpool's history dating back from 3000BC to the present day, which can be placed in a timeline
• examples of artwork from 3 prominent Liverpool artists as well as Gustav Klimt who has had a major exhibition at the Liverpool Tate
• profiles on the chosen artists
• profiles of 2 prominent historical figures who have helped shape the future of Liverpool
• timetable of events in Liverpool during its year as Capital of Culture
• interesting "Did you knows?" about Liverpool
